Your work will be seen daily on NewsFix a unique, anchorless news format in Houston that presents news with an opinion and POV you won’t see on traditional newscasts. The production value is high, so we place high priority on finding the right Preditor (that’s short for producer, writer, and editor).

We value solid newsroom & digital technology experience, but sell us on your passion to re-invent the news with clever copy, an exceptional photojournalistic eye, and the ability to tell a story like no one else.

You must be in sync with the pulse of the streets and come up with your own story ideas.

If this excites you, shoot us your resume and links to your FCP editing, shooting and writing examples (whether they aired or not), and anything else you think might help sell you as a key member of this exclusive team.

Candidate must have Final Cut Pro experience and be able to shoot daily assignments on a Sony EX3 and DSLR cameras. The position may require nights & weekends as needed, plus you must be willing to learn/operate and ENG/SNG truck. Experience with 3G/4G wireless bonding technology a plus.  Sports coverage experience a big plus.  Perfect applicant is someone who has been in charge of covering collegiate/professional teams.   Must be willing to work nights and weekends.

NewsFix (KIAH/Houston) has an immediate full time opening for a Vizrt Artist that can create, design and script new Viz elements and maintain our current Viz archive and arsenal of on-air elements.  We are looking for an innovative graphic artist with the visionary ability to match our non-traditional, highly stylized newscasts and programming.  You’ll need more than a good looking reel of motion graphics to join us and must have the ability to multi task and support other departments with creative executions based on project needs.

Candidates must have extensive experience with Vizrt and preferably have a degree in fine art or related field (formal training in animation, motion graphics, typography, design, photography, storyboarding).  Candidate must also be experienced with 3D motion design and After Affects.

You must know your way around Viz design and scripting and have the ability to troubleshoot/ with excellent problem solving skills.

Does this describe you?

Extensive experience with all Vizrt products

At least Five years of production experience in film or television
Ability to concept projects and execute on every aspect to completion
Technical problem solving experience
Ability to meet deadlines and manage time
Ability to work well with others and take deal with feedback
Knowledge of production techniques and software including After Effects, Photoshop and  Illustrator
Technical problem solving experience
VB scripting and shell scripting experience

KIAH News department (CW39) has an immediate opening a full-time assignment editor/content coordinator. Looking for an aggressive, independent and creative candidate who can work in fast paced, deadline oriented environment. Daily responsibilities include managing all aspects of daily news coverage, assigning and tracking news crews, monitoring social media and police scanners, developing and local sources and maintaining productive relationships with entities such as local government in addition to generating story ideas. KIAH-TV, is Houston’s Source of Family Entertainment. Since going on the air in 1967, KIAH has made a commitment to not only entertain but to educate the community. We know that education is a factor in achieving success, and because of this we participate in programs that benefit youth. In an effort to extend our outreach into the community, we have developed an Internship Program. The goal of our Internship Program is to allow students the opportunity to supplement information learned in the classroom with hands on training.

The guidelines for qualifying for an Internship include:

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be enrolled in an educational institution that provides sponsorship through a cooperative education program which insures their students through their workmen’s compensation and/or liability insurance policy.
All internships are for college credit, and students must have a Junior or Senior standing.
Positive, professional attitude
The ability to work at least 15 – 20 hours per week.

Students will receive minimum wage for duties performed while interning with the station.  Also note that obtaining an internship by no means guarantees future employment.  Qualified applicants are considered for all internships without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, or the presence of a non-job related medical condition or handicap.
