Sports memorabilia of all kinds up for auction

NEW YORK, NY – It’s said to be the greatest American sports moment in modern history. Mike Eruzione led the U.S. to a win over the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympics, known as ‘The Miracle on Ice.’ His heroics are still gold 30 years later, because it’s a miracle that the jersey and stick he used in that historic game just sold at an auction for nearly $1,000,000.

The jersey went for $657,250 and the stick (yes, a stick) sold for a whopping $262,900.What the puck was that buyer thinking? That’s not the only sweat soaked seller to hit an auction block recently.

The bloody sock, worn by Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling in game two of the 2004 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, was also up for grabs at a Texas-based Heritage Auction. This ‘one of a kind’ item sold for $92,613. Which proves two things, die hard sports fans will spend a ton of money on memorabilia, and no one can ever find a ‘pair’ of socks when you need them.
