NewsFixer Ebay PayPal scam

They say buyers beware, but a Houston couple is warning sellers to also be on the lookout for a PayPal scam.

Gabriel and Bonnie Al-Raifai started their own photography business and decided to sell some old equipment.

They thought their holiday budget was set after selling a Nikon C3-5 for $4,000 on eBay.

Gabriel said it is something they’ve done several times before.  “We’ve sold plenty of things on eBay and Paypal and had nothing but pretty good experiences.”  said Gabriel.

That is until they sold their expensive camera through the auction website.  The couple said they mailed the camera to an address in New Hampshire after the buyer’s payment posted to Paypal.  The buyer then asked for the package to be rerouted to an address near Dallas.

After the package was rerouted, the money in the Paypal account was pulled.

The Al-Raifai’s said when they contacted Paypal about the problem, they were told because they re-routed the package there was nothing the company could do to help.

That’s when they called The Newsfixer.  He snooped around and found out alot of people have been writing about this kind of scam, and that Paypal service agreements do talk about changing where you ship items, but the Al-Raifai’s said they didn’t think switching the course was a big deal because the buyer had contacted them through eBay, which ownes Paypal.

After a call from The Newsfixer, Paypal changed its mind and agreed to pay them the $4,000 they thought they had.

The Al-Raifai’s now have a new pal, in Paypal.

Another scam everyone should be aware of is the Amway Tool Scam. Google "Stop The Amway Tool Scam WordPress" for more information, and forward this to every non-Distributor/IBO you know, so they don't get scammed.
