GARFIELD, NJ – We all know the obvious difference between a boy and a girl. And there’s usually a pretty obvious difference between a girl’s toy and a boy’s — the color!
A 13-year-old girl from Garfield, New Jersey shot a video of herself asking her little brother what he wanted for Christmas. In the video, he explains how he wants an Easy Bake Oven, but that they only come in pink.
The video of Pope and her brother got noticed. So Pope started an online petition on Change.com for Hasboro, the company that makes the toy, so consider changing their packaging.
Hasboro says they’ve had gender-neutral Easy Bake Ovens in the past, but it didn’t sell well. But Hasboro is still hearing Pope and her family out. They’ve invited them to make their case at its Pawtucket, Rhode Island headquarters.
So maybe Pope’s little brother will get his Christmas wish.
